Environmental project 75 percent complete
The Hispano-Panameño project to complete an economic valuation of the Baru Volcano National Park by international experts is 75 percent complete.
That was the opinion of officials who attended a workshop Sunday organized by the National Association for the Conservation of Nature (ANCON) to work on the project. A spokeswoman for ANCON told journalists that this project is "very important" because project seeks to create mechanisms for the sustainability of the protected area. United Nations environmental official Alex Pires said that the program will be used as an example for a similar project proposed at the La Montañona reserve in Chalatenango, El Salvador. "From here, we will get results that will be broadcast to the entire Mesoamerica region," he said. Pires said that the results of the project will be announced during a workshop scheduled for the second half of the year.
