Google Maps announces updated traffic information in real time

Starting today, if you're planning a trip in which you anticipate traffic, you can find out the usual traffic on all roads.

WASHINGTON. (EFE). - Popular mapping service Google now includes information on traffic conditions in real time and historical traffic highways road alternatives, reported Monday the software giant.

"This new and improved system enables real traffic conditions and is constantly updated to provide the most accurate estimate possible," said Szabolcs Payrits, software engineer from Google Maps on your blog.

Likewise, the new Google program also allows to know the history of traffic, depending on time of day, with roads in major cities.

"Starting today, if you're planning a trip in which you anticipate traffic, you can find out what the normal traffic in this type of roads and highways not only," said Payrits.

So far the software provided users with an estimated travel time on highways, but based on historical traffic data, not actual traffic, so Google decided to eliminate the past year to work in a real-time system.

While indicate the estimated time for a particular trip without traffic, now also appear with an adjusted estimate traffic data on that day and time.

This data is collected through traffic information services and through Android operating system users who have activated the "My Location" on Google Maps.

Thus, Google can identify a number of Android users moving slower than usual on a highway because of traffic.
